No this is not a field of mushrooms. They are muffins! Home made from fresh scratch! They are apple raisin cinnamon walnut muffins. You see I sorta promised our friends in Columbus I would make muffins for Sunday breakfast since we will be there overnight. I also decided to make a double batch so I could leave some home for the boys. I had to get a bigger bowl after I'd mixed up the batter because I'd not added the apples yet and there were 3 cups of chopped up apple mush to add! Got that bit all done and set about filling my muffin tins. My tins must be sub-standard though because I had enough batter left for about 6 more muffins! So....I scooped it into a cake pan and put the lot into the oven. Probably should have done batches though 'cause the ones near the sides of the oven got a bit burnt. Just a bit. Didn't taint the rest. We can just break off the edges. Obviously those are the ones that will stay home for the brothers to eat! I'll take a dozen non-burnt muffins to Columbus! Ha! When I pulled them out of the oven I unceremoniously dumped them out onto the counter and there they cooled. I ate two of them with coffee for dinner. They are pretty good. Got the kitchen sorted out and am doing some washing.
Today was my Mom's birthday. Early in the day I picked up an Oreo ice cream cake at DQ and took it to her house. She, of course, wasn't there! I loaded it into her freezer and drove up to the college where Andy goes. I was nearly an hour early so I browsed around the mall. I found a great pair of jeans on sale! They fit great so I was glad I stopped! Picked Andy up and went to the local Chinese buffet. They even had a good selection of sushi! I was so full the two muffins I ate for dinner were more than enough! Well, anyway.... we drove back to Mom's and she was there and got the cake out to thaw a bit whilst Andy and I chatted with her. My brother Bill sent flowers but I still won extra points for being there in person and giving her a hug and all! Take that Bill!! Ha! When we got home it was already 4:00 or better because we also stopped at the supermarket for fruit (apples for the muffins, other stuff for breakfast!) Hit the ground running and did stuff around here like getting clothes for the weekend around, starting the washing, and muffin making!
It's been a full day and I'm a bit knackered! Got loads done though so it's all good then innit? Oh, and by the way.......last night Evil Fred ate a moth after first getting moth wing dust all over the couch! Ewww!
Today's interesting fact:
Oh, do you know the muffin man,
The muffin man, the muffin man,
Oh, do you know the muffin man,
That lives on Drury Lane?
Drury Lane
Didn't know he was a Thespian! ~Sue

mmmmm...muffins...
Sounds like a pretty fun day. How old is Grandma? I remembered Ben's birthday a few days before it but then forgot until a few days after it... oops...
We're going to make dinner on a campfire! Yay!
Have fun in Columbus!
