Yes, today was a nearly perfect day to ride a motorcycle and yes, I know there are loads of excellent riders out there but I really didn't see many today. I made a trip to Defiance on 424 along the river. I got behind a group of four motorcycles. All of the riders had on helmets! Hurrah! That's nearly a first. That is where my happiness ended. There were two riding side by side one behind them and the forth one lagging somewhat behind the rest. They were riding an average of 50 mph at times going even more slowly! Well I have the road to Defiance memorized because I use to drive up there every day to work. I prepared myself for the nearly two mile straight bit just ahead. When we reached that point I pulled out to pass the lot of them and as I started around them they sped up! I had to nearly break all our necks to safely get around them! Bloody fools! They certainly knew I was there unless they never look in their mirrors and I even beeped my oh-so-scary Honda horn so they would know I was there! What a stupid lot! Plus then I felt careless and less than smart passing them! Gads! Most of the rest of the riders I saw today had no helmets and many were more interested in giving each other the universal motorcycle rider's "low hand" salute than polishing their riding skills. Really thankful things turned out alright.
Today's interesting, scary fact:
