New Year Madness

All of you know I love “Get Fuzzy.” I bought a “Get Fuzzy” daily calendar on December 31, 2008 and got it half price. Anybody who has ever had a cat and dog knows how true the characterizations of these two are. Dogs want to please. Cats want to kill and rule. People are just the hapless bystanders. Somebody told me that to a dog, people are their friends. To a cat, people are just “staff.” It is so true. Now, that being said, our cats are very friendly and affectionate. I believe, however, it is all an act to get on our good side to get what they want from us. They probably pity us. To them, we are inferior. When we had a dog, she couldn’t do enough to try to please us. She would play the fool just to get our attention and affection. What different species dogs and cats are! There is just no comparison. We did have a cat once who THOUGHT she was a dog. That was really interesting. Her name was Buddha, because she was very fat and looked very old and wise. Buddha would lay on her back on the floor in what we called her “dead woodchuck” pose. She would ride in the car and wanted to put her head out the window. Buddha would beg for food and would share the bowl with our dog, unafraid of it, even though the dog was huge. If you weren’t paying attention to her, Buddha would lay on your lag and pull your chin down with her paw until you looked her in the face. Weird, yet cool cat. She is missed.

For New Years this year, we stayed in. We watched a film, had a cuddle, and were asleep by midnight. We sound like a boring couple, eh? We are content. We love our lives and each other. We did go out during the early evening on New Year’s Eve to do a bit of shopping and see Valkyre. I highly recommend this film. Fantastic, mostly historically accurate. We ate at a local “hole in the wall” Italian place called, “Carmine’s Little Italy.” All the food is cooked by Carmine himself. We had a nice day.

Not far from here, about a 2 hour drive, there was madness. In a city near Lake Erie called Port Clinton (the home of Cedar Point Amusement Park), they dropped a giant fish from the sky, into a waiting crowd. Check it out by clicking on the photo:

Hope your New Year celebration was to your liking. Why not share what you did? Come on. Tell us! Some us live vicariously through you.

Happy New Year 2009!
