Last week, Dennis prepped the lawn tractor for the summer. He filled the gas tank and made certain it would start. Friday the temperature got up to 68F (20C) Absolutely beautiful outside. There were a lot of sticks and branches from the winter on the lawn so I got out our leaf cart and went around picking those up and put them out on the brush pile. (Yes, we even have a brush pile.) I got the lawn tractor out and checked the tires. Two of them were so squashy, it would have been bad to drive around on them. I pushed the tractor out to Dennis’ workshop and found the appropriate bits to put air into tires. We have an air compressor so at least I didn’t have to use a hand pump. If I had I’d have been too worn out to do the actual mowing. Finally I got the air pressure where it belonged, put the hose and bits away and started up the tractor. I was afraid it wouldn’t start after all that. (it’s happened to me before) I was mostly mowing leaves from the fall which we had either raked out of flower beds or had blown around the yard. I almost hated to mow over the wild flowers that are coming up all over the lawn but it needed done. After going over some spots several times, the yard looks pretty good. It will look better as weeks go by and it is mowed again and again. It will probably look quite nice by Fall. Then the leaves will drift down and cover it again. Ah, c’est la vie!
