I tawt I taw a comet! I did! I did tee a comet!

I really did see the Holmes Comet! It was extremely cool! Yeah, I know I'm a nerd for even looking for it let alone knowing how to find it in the vast starry sky, but I'm glad I did. It looked very much like this photo; sort of a large fuzz ball! You can find it with your naked eye but best viewed through either binoculars or a telescope. Find the Pleiades (Which is the tiny dipper. No, not the little dipper but a constellation containing 12 stars in the shape of a tiny dipper, really easy to see.) Look to the left and up a bit and you will find the Holmes Comet. Actually my brother, the amateur astronomer told me about it or I wouldn't have even known about it. Way cool though. You cannot see this comet's tail.

Today Ben gets his house. After he finishes at the bank, he and I are going to celebrate with Chinese food and then drive out to the place and assess it further.

Today's interesting fact: "Comet" comes from the two Greek words "hairy star". Comets are dirty snowballs. Don't throw one of those at me! ~Sue

Hey, hey! Glad you got out to see Holmes! Bill G. took a break from a late night at work and, with binoculars Mom & Dad gave him, got a nice look at this very unusual comet. Nice directions, by the way, on how to find it. -- Brother Jim
