Work, work, work......

Ben and I worked at his newly acquired house today. I spent 2 full hours just working in the kitchen and it is still dirty. Better, but not fully clean. I got the sink pretty well done and it took some time! There was grout from doing the floor dried in the stainless steel double sink, along with sticky stuff and just plain dirt. The sink is very usable though so Ben won't need a new one straight away. The floor tiles were amazingly dirty but now that they have been scrubbed, they are beautiful, 12 inch square, REAL glazed tiles. (it was a bit hard to tell before) They are blue/gray/rust colored, rough textured, and possibly expensive tiles. (the same tiles are on the sun porch as well. nice!) The kitchen floor is still dirty even after a thorough scrubbing but that is because it was so very filthy to begin with but also because after I'd used the cleaning water to clean the work top and kitchen window sills and fronts of cupboards, it was already brown! Currently there is no running water at the house so we had to take some with us. Tomorrow I will probably take twice as much with me. That also means of course there is no toilet to use. (no water, no toilet, right?) Good news though, after a thorough cleaning the toilet will probably work. Water goes down it's drain. I won't tell you what the toilet looks like inside. Let it be said you don't want to look into it with a full stomach!! Ben did get the electrical power reconnected so we have lights and music. Gotta have tunes, yes? He also tore up the carpet tack strips but there are staples and nails to pull up out of the floors. And, hurrah, all the windows open! The place still smells rather badly. I just can't imagine leaving so horrendous a mess! Gads! We locked everything up and drove into town and got Burger King take away. Yum.

Today's interesting fact:
Ohio again leads the nation in home foreclosures (2006 stats.)
Bad for those
foreclosed on, good for Ben! ~Sue

P.S. Be
