So, shall we pick up where we left off? Saturday I emailed my brother Jim and his wife Carol and said we could come to pick up the stuff they wanted to "donate" to Ben Sunday (the following day) or Sunday next. They emailed back that Sunday, September 30th would be good. Jim had to work at Library in the afternoon but if we (Dennis and I) arrived in the morning, we could load up the stuff, eat lunch together and tour the Library! I was really keen to tour the place so Dennis and I made a flying trip in the van with all the seats out but pilot and co-pilot. The trip went well both directions and we had a great time. (Ben drove Andy back to school, in OUR NEW car!) The photo shows Bofur checking out the couch they gave Ben. The couch is sitting in our den because it was too wide to go through the door down to the Troll Cave. Very nice couch as well. They also gave Ben a coffee table, two side tables, an oak chair, Cuisinart, toaster, and a bread box! Nice, quality stuff and very generous of my brother and sister in law, innit? The library was beautiful and huge. The tour was very enjoyable. I was a bit jealous of a few things but at my library I have had opportunities I may not have at such a large one so I am content. Today's interesting fact:
Throwaway society? Truth is, we really care about getting rid of things (2005) Far from being a 'throwaway society', most of us go to considerable lengths to pass on unwanted household items to others, according to new research sponsored by the ESRC.
I have to say this information makes me unaccountably happy! ~Sue
