Doing my bit

Went out thrift shopping before heading to the supermarket today. I got 10 items for $30. Even if I only keep 3 of them they are a bargain. It's really fun to go "hunting" for bargains. It's a real thrill to wear cool outfits to work and be able to tell people that the entire ensemble cost less than $20. Their eyes pop, their jaws drop. They are jealous of my thrifting ability. Not too many years ago, thrift shopping had a negative stigma attached. Everybody seemed to want "Brands" and "Labels." Now thrifting is cool. Who knew a slumping economy would make people realize "lightly worn" clothing, once washed, is like new! I never buy shoes, underwear, or swimwear at thrift stores though. Those items I only buy new. I have found some great designer or expensive clothing while thrifting; some with the original price tags still attached, thus, never worn! Those are the brilliant buys. I've also purchased collectible dishes for my home. It's just so much fun! You should try it. ( Rachel is a champion thrifter. Check out her "Wallet Moth" blog!)
