I awoke at 2 A.M. to a loud roaring sound. “What’s wrong with the furnace?” was my first thought. I got up and put my foot over the floor vent to see if there was air coming out of it. There wasn’t. It was the wind, like some giant lion stalking through our woods! I went out to the kitchen and I could hear rain pounding on the sliding glass door and the wind chimes seemed to be trying to break through the house siding. The wind was blowing at a steady gale, minimum 40 mph. Very scary stuff when you live under trees.. If we had a wind driven generator, we probably could have powered our entire city ourselves. I got online with the National Weather Service and their graphic showed a storm front in colors from purple (the strongest) through light green (the weakest). There was a crescent of purple which had just passed and we were in the bright red area at the time. It was frightening. I got back into bed praying no trees would fall on us. After about 30 minutes the wind began to subside and I sell back asleep. Dennis slept through the whole thing. Typical. By morning light we could see there had been no damage done aside from small branches on the lawn. I was very grateful.
