Last night we were out and decided to stop at Culver’s for supper. I ordered a Pacific cod fish sandwich which is a popular menu item there. It had cheese on it! Why? I didn’t want cheese on my fish sandwich! I know McDonald’s fish has cheese, and also Wendy’s, but I was surprised that Culver’s did. Their food is less, shall we say “standardized” than that at the more popular chain restaurants. Cheese! Yuk! I started looking at menu’s at other chain restaurants to see if their fish sandwiches had cheese on them. Rally’s (aka Checkers) Deep Sea Double fish does have cheese but they apparently have a fish without cheese. In & Out burger only has burgers. Taco Bell doesn’t do sandwiches. Big Boy and Burger King Do NOT put CHEESE on their fish sandwiches!! I don’t understand WHY anybody would even WANT cheese on fish. It’s just too gross to consider. Now, that being said, McDonald’s puts cheese on their Filet ‘o Fish because otherwise it would just taste like tartar sauce and bread. Yes, I’ve actually eaten McDonald’s fish in the past and have a genuine opinion about their fish sandwich. I used to love Burger King’s fish sandwich but then they doubled the size of it so now it has two meal’s worth of calories in it. Actually, after I read the calorie count in the Culver’s sandwich I ate last night, I’ll not eat another. So, in conclusion, I’m not sure why it matters that the majority of restaurants put cheese on their fish sandwiches. I could easily ask them to leave it off. The calorie count in a breaded fish sandwich is so high I rarely eat them anyway. But for me the question remains… WHY put cheese on fish at all???
