I have British teeth. "Well duh!" You said that, yes you did. Come on, I heard you! Actually my teeth look quite nice from the front. They are fairly straight, my gums are pink and healthy, I brush twice a day, and I even floss! However, my teeth are quite weak and I have loads of fillings. If they were gold fillings I'd have my own Fort Knox! I have broken another tooth! Actually I broke it back in May whilst eating candied almonds left over from Rachel's wedding shower. One of the bloody things broke the back off of my upper right furthest back molar. It hasn't hurt or bothered me so I waited until two weeks ago when I went in for my semi annual teeth cleaning. The dentist who saw me that day said, "You should get a crown on that." I asked him if I would need a root canal first and he assured me I would not. He is not my regular dentist. I scheduled the first of two appointments needed to get the crown put on. Today was the day so I got ready and drove into a nearby town to my dentist prepared to spend 1 1/2 hours there. I even brought along a book to read! My regular dentist took a look and said, "That looks awfully deep." That in itself sounded ominous enough. He said, "If I don't charge you, would you be willing to have 2 more x-rays of that tooth?" Well at no charge, of course I'll have it done. Well blast if it didn't show the nerve is right up against where he would have to drill to prepare for the crown. He said I'd need a root canal after all! Crap! I'll probably just get the bloody thing pulled. I'm going to put it off until after the Holidays as well unless it gets sore. I am disheartened and put off. I'm not keen on dental work of any sort aside from cleaning anyway but a root canal? Forget it! If the tooth was toward the front of my mouth I'd go through with it but since it is clear in the back, it will just have to go!
Today's interesting fact:
- Brush twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste.
- Clean between your teeth daily with floss.
- Eat nutritious and balanced meals and limit snacking.
- Visit your dentist regularly for professional cleanings and oral examination.

Sorry :(
Ow and fooey! So sorry to hear about the shattered tooth. I guess the only thing "good" about it is, as you said, that it's at the back of your mouth. Still, you hate to lose a bit of the original equipment, eh? -- Yer Bruther Jim
