Whoa! It's dark in here!

Last night, Dennis and I were relaxing in the Living room watching an episode of “Firefly” which is a now-canceled 2002 space western we’ve purchased on DVDs. Fantastic show which was canceled before a full year’s run. Sad that. Anyway, we got to about the middle of the episode and there was a sudden bluish glow in the Eastern sky. We heard a loud humming sound and then… total blackness both outside and INSIDE the house! A power outage! Either that or alien invasion. At any rate, we were without power for about an hour. It appeared everything on this side of the river plus, possibly, the entire city was without lights. No worries. We went off to the basement and grabbed one of the kerosene lamps and brought it upstairs. We felt a bit like Abraham Lincoln, (but without beards) sitting in our home in the woods, reading by lamp light. It wasn’t entirely unpleasant, but was extremely QUIET. It’s amazing how noisy our homes are with all the electronic appliances we have. The power returned by 10:30 and we finished our program. Then we re-set our clocks and went to bed.

This morning I anxiously turned on the local radio station to find out what had happened last night with the power outage. They said nothing. NOTHING about a huge power outage. I listened again an hour later and still nothing.

This tells me it must have, indeed, been an alien invasion. Why else would they cover it up? If you don’t hear from us in awhile, don’t come looking. We will have been assimilated by the aliens by then. Save yourselves.

Hi, Went suit shopping with Dad today and we heard on the news that the power outage was caused by a raccoon....The little guy knocked out power to most of Napoleon. Dad and Florence even lost power.
