Who, me?

My younger brother is lactose intolerant. Over the past few years I have “upped” the amount of milk I was drinking because I felt I needed the extra calcium. I also happen to really like milk. I had noticed that often I would get a stomach ache after drinking a glass of milk or eating a bowl of ice cream. I had also suffered from (excuse me) bloating but had blamed it on food. Recently I decided to give lactose-free milk a try. My personal results have been astonishing. I feel better. Not just better but a lot better. I also have had much less bloating and intestinal discomfort since the switch away from regular milk. Eureka! Who knew? Apparently my younger brother did. Thanks Bill! I shoulda listened years ago!

Huh. I'll have to watch myself. I haven't noticed any problems yet though. Glad you're feeling better!

Whoa! That took a while to figure out. At least there are quite a few alternatives to regular milk including lactose-free dairy products and soy- or rice-based beverages. Now, I don't drink milk so why am I so, er, bloated? -- JG
